§Why a Zerker?

The EZ berserker is an amazing class. Early on they are fantastic DPS because they are the only melee dps that gets consistent, strong proc damage without weapon strike augs…AND that damage is area of effect!

Early on zerkers do well with AE dps. They are probably the cheapest DPS on a team before T5, especially if you pull multiple mobs. Their epic proc AND the click are both the same AE nuke, and with an inherent deagro.  Defensively they do better than any other non-plate class with the possible exception of the monk. This makes a berserker a fantastic add to a team.

Later, when you pull less multiple mobs, the berserker isn’t as good for DPS as their ninjastrike using counterparts…..but they still add to the group a decent chunk of DPS (especially when they slot firestrike augs into their weapons), and they have disciplines that will add to a group’s dps.

§FG or CG?

For guild quests you’ll want to do Fighters Guild on the zerker. Since they are straight melee they won’t benefit from Caster’s Guild.

Once you’ve hit level 70 you’ll want to start working on zerker AA. There are a lot of choices here that can help them in their main role: AE melee dps!
When initially selecting your AA you’ll want to get the first basics the same as any class: max run speed, max planar power, max combat agility and stability, mystical attuning, discordant defiance and max lung capacity. After that you want to start maxing ANYTHING offense. A list of some “must haves” in no particular order:

  • Natural Durability
  • Concentration
  • Echoing Cries
  • Delay Death
  • Ferocity
  • Physical Enhancement
  • Anything Ingenuity
  • Veteran’s Wrath
  • Weapon Affinity
  • Combat Fury
  • Blur of Axes
  • Flurry
  • Frenzied Defense
  • Hastened Rampage
  • Hastened War Cry
  • Lightning Strikes

These will increase your offenses, and since your main role is dps they are great choices! For anything else read the description of the AA and decide what you want first.
Abilities, Charms, Augs

As 2h melee dps zerkers will eventually want firestrike augs. They will of course also want UC (and high priority) but before then they will want sorcerer’s charms.  While you are able to give the epic fatass your epic and get a 1h back, there really is no point to it; two 1h epics will share the same recast timer, so no extra procs. And you’ll lose all the fun 2h abilities inherent to the class

Zerkers get a nice variety of abilities and disciplines. The above AA list will give you some ideas of what to use during combat right off the bat, but additionally you might like Vengeful Flurry, Cry Havoc, Cleaving Anger, Battle Focus and more! Many highly recommend learning and using these!

Airplane has two items, one that helps quite a bit, one worthless. The first, Over Raided Zerker Haste, adds 200% haste (which on EZ does pretty much nothing, as delay is hard capped) and adds 60% crit chance to all skills (which adds up). The other is Bashful Crustacean’s Pincer Attack, which adds a 3.5 zerker proc to your attacks…..but erases the ability to click the epic. This makes this item pretty much worthless to any zerker with a 4.0+ epic.
